The IWTTF Awards are back for a second year!

Launched in 2023, they celebrate Women*, gender-diverse individuals, allies and organisations that are making an impact in the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Industries through their work and commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the industry.

The IWTTF Awards were created by Women in Travel CIC to provide role models and share good practices with the view to improve DEI in industry, elevating individuals as well as organisations that are striving to create a more equitable and inclusive industry, whether locally, nationally or internationally.

Nominations & Timeline 2024

Nominations open Tuesday 12 MARCH and close Sunday 19 MAY 2024 (at midnight)

  1. Judging will take place between Monday 20 May and Monday 17 June
  2. Finalists will be announced the week of 17 June
  3. Winners will be unveiled at the Awards Ceremony taking place on 26 June at Expedia HQ in London (6 to 9 PM)

You can submit a nomination for yourself or someone you know, be it an individual or an organisation. You can submit for more than one category, if appropriate, with different nomination forms.

A nomination form is available for every category.

The Nominee should complete it carefully by:

  • Accessing the relevant Category Submission Form
  • Addressing the 3 specific questions/criteria which can be found in the written explanation available for every category

Judges and Judging Process

Judges will award nominees based on criterias which reflect:

  • The quality of the nomination received for that particular nominee
  • How strongly the nomination relates to the award category an individual/the organisation has been nominated for
  • Additional evidence provided by the nominee themselves.

Judges are senior professionals in industry selected for their expertise, standing and commitment to DEI in industry.

Awards 2024 Judges & Ambassadors

DEI PROFESSIONAL(S) OF THE YEAR

INDIVIDUAL

This award honours an INDIVIDUAL DEI professional, who could be part of the DEI team or an HR team, yet formally tasked with driving the DEI agenda. The individual could be the Head of the DEI team or a DEI manager or HR executive with specific DEI responsibilities. Either way, this individual furthers the cause of DEI in their company and beyond, showing leadership, commitment and dedication.

This individual will influence and educate colleagues at all levels on DEI issues, be it for their colleagues, communities or customers.

COMPANY

This award honours a TEAM of DEI professionals, who could be a separate DEI team or an HR team, yet formally tasked with driving the DEI agenda. The Team will be tasked with specific DEI responsibilities to further the cause of DEI in their company and beyond, showing leadership, commitment and dedication, to creating inclusive workplaces through initiatives such as ERG, mentoring and allyship programmes, training and more.

This team will influence and educate colleagues at all levels on DEI issues, be it for their colleagues, communities or customers.

DEI CHAMPIONS OF THE YEAR

INDIVIDUAL

This award honours those INDIVIDUALS who further the cause of DEI by putting these ideas into practice within their own organisations and beyond. DEI CHAMPIONS are individuals who lead the charge for inclusion and belonging in the workplace WITHOUT being formally tasked with it – rather because they are passionate about making the industry and their workplace a better environment for everyone. These inspirational leaders advocate for change and educate those they work with about DEI issues, be it for their colleagues, communities or customers.

COMPANY

This award honours those COMPANIES that further the cause of DEI by moving from talk to action showcasing a broad understanding of the topics and embedding DEI in their organisation. These companies are at the forefront of change in diversity, inclusion and belonging in their workplace and equally in industry by role-modelling what inclusive workplaces and campaigns look like. These inspirational companies advocate for change and educate those they work with about DEI issues be it for their colleagues, communities or customers.

INCLUSIVE TALENT & RECRUITMENT LEADER OF THE YEAR

INDIVIDUAL DIVERSE TALENT RECRUITER

This award honours an INDIVIDUAL who has gone above and beyond to hire diversely in their team, influencing the workplace and effecting change in hiring practices. Whether they work as part of an HR and recruitment team or manage a team or department, this individual can show consistent and substantial effort in trying to recruit outside the obvious channels, reaching out to a much wider pool/community to secure success in representing all individuals in society.

COMPANY – BEST DEI T&R INITIATIVE

This award honours a COMPANY that has designed and executed an effective and forward-thinking talent management and recruitment initiative(s) aimed at addressing current challenges to fill roles and skills shortages by harnessing the power of diversity and inclusion. The company will have recruited talent outside the obvious channels, reaching out to a much wider pool/community to secure success in representing all individuals in society. 

ALLYSHIP HEROES OF THE YEAR

INDIVIDUAL

This award honours an INDIVIDUAL who has consistently shown commitment to acting as an ally to women and other diverse individuals within their organisations and industry. This individual will have gone over and above to actively support, advocate for and promote and progress all women and other diverse individuals in their workplace/industry, fostering a culture of inclusion and an environment in which women and diverse individuals feel they can progress and shine. 

COMPANY

This award honours a COMPANY that has put in place strategies and programmes leading it to be recognised as ALLY to women and other diverse groups not just within the organisation, but also communities and customers. This company will be at the forefront of industry thinking when it comes to ALLYSHIP and DEI and will be able to share practical examples of allyship initiatives it has put in place over the last 12 months, from ERG to mentoring programmes to community initiatives. 

INSPIRING FEMALE LEADER OF THE YEAR

INDIVIDUAL WITHIN CORPORATE

This award honours a CORPORATE WOMAN who through her leadership and initiative has risen to a position of influence and used it to advocate for, support, promote and progress all women in her workplace and the broader industry. This leader will demonstrate dedication and continuing commitment to greater gender diversity and inclusion and will act as a role model and mentor to the younger generation of women in the company/workforce.

INDIVIDUAL ENTREPRENEUR / SELF-EMPLOYED

This award honours a WOMAN who runs her own business and through her leadership and initiative has risen to a position of influence and used it to advocate for, support, promote and progress all women in her network and the broader industry. This leader will demonstrate dedication and continuing commitment to greater gender diversity and inclusion and will inspire as well as act as a role model and mentor to the younger generation of women and other entrepreneurs.

INSPIRING FEMALE IN TRAVEL TECH OF THE YEAR

INDIVIDUAL WITHIN CORPORATE

This award honours a CORPORATE WOMAN WORKING IN TRAVEL TECH who has made significant strides in her company and industry specifically in the field of technology. Through her leadership and initiative, she has risen to a position of influence and used her visibility to advocate for, support, promote and progress women in tech and help close the gender tech gap in her workplace and the broader industry. This leader will demonstrate dedication and continuing commitment to greater gender diversity and inclusion and will act as a role model and mentor to the younger generation of women in and outside the company/workforce.

INDIVIDUAL ENTREPRENEUR / SELF-EMPLOYED

This award honours a WOMAN WORKING IN TRAVEL TECH who is self-employed / or an entrepreneur making significant strides in her company and industry specifically in the field of technology. Through her leadership and initiative, she has risen to a position of influence and used her visibility to advocate for, support, promote and progress women in tech and help close the gender tech gap in her workplace and the broader industry. This leader will demonstrate dedication and continuing commitment to greater gender diversity and inclusion and will act as a role model and mentor to the younger generation of women in and outside the company/workforce.

MENTOR OF THE YEAR

INDIVIDUAL WITHIN CORPORATE

This award honours an INDIVIDUAL who has consistently shown commitment to acting as a mentor to women and other diverse individuals within their organisations. 

This individual will be known for mentoring especially within their organisation and for the qualities that demonstrate excellence in mentoring women and other diverse individuals in their workplace/industry. 

INDIVIDUAL ENTREPRENEUR / SELF-EMPLOYED

This award honours an INDIVIDUAL who has consistently shown commitment to acting as a mentor to women and other diverse individuals within the industry/ their networks. 

This individual will be known for mentoring within their networks / outside their organisation and for the qualities that demonstrate excellence in mentoring women and other diverse individuals in their workplace/industry

FEMALE MENTEE OF THE YEAR

INDIVIDUAL WITHIN CORPORATE

This award honours an INDIVIDUAL who has consistently shown commitment to mentoring by acting as a great mentee within their organisation. 

This individual will have embraced mentoring and being a mentee as part of a corporate programme and achieved outstanding outcomes as a result, which could include a promotion, a new project or a previously unavailable opportunity. 

INDIVIDUAL ENTREPRENEUR / SELF-EMPLOYED

This award honours an INDIVIDUAL who has consistently shown commitment to mentoring by acting as a great mentee within their organisation. 

This individual will have embraced mentoring and being a mentee as part of a corporate programme and achieved outstanding outcomes as a result, which could include a promotion, a new project or a previously unavailable opportunity.
